What you can expect

The Barron River Half Day Tour is a fantastic introduction to White Water Rafting. It's fun, exciting and exhilarating, suitable for all the family (aged 12 and over). Paddle through the World Heritage listed Rainforest of the Barron Gorge National Park and take on the thrilling Grade Three rapids of the Barron River as it winds it way towards the Coral Sea. This tour includes up to 2 hours of White Water Rafting, professional guide and all safety equipment.

What you need to know

Inclusions
  • Up to 2 hours rafting on the Barron River - Grade 2 -3 rapids
  • Tea and coffee at the end of your rafting trip
  • All tuition provided, no experience necessary (most of your fellow rafters will have never rafted before)
  • Hotel transfers from Cairns (if chosen at time of purchase)
  • $30 levy
Highlights
  • Top of the River - Gear-up with life jackets, helmets and paddles
  • Raft - From just below Barron River Power Station down a series of grade 2 and 3 rapids
  • Paddle - From the last rapid the short distance to Lake Placid
Time
  • Self-Drive - please meet at Lake Placid Tourist Park, Lake Placid Rd by 8.30am (return at approx. 11.30am. Please choose the "Lake Placid Car Park @ 14:30" location from the pick up list
  • From Cairns - transfers commence from approx. 8am (return at approx. 12pm). Please choose your Cairns accommodation from the pick up list. If you have not yet booked accommodation, please choose the "TBA" from the pick up list

Additional Information
  • Cairns Adventure Group has been significantly affected by Cyclone Jasper and the subsequent flooding across the region. Due to current road closures and damage to Barron Gorge hydro station, we are unable to operate Barron River Rafting.
  • A Medical Questionnaire, Release & Assumption of Risk & Indemnity Forms are required to be completed prior to participation in white water rafting
  • No prior white water rafting experience is necessary, however good health and a positive attitude are essential
  • Minimum age is 12yrs
  • Rafting is not suitable for anyone who is pregnant
